Welcome to my 50th blog! Hard to believe I haven't written since the end of September, but better late than never! SO MUCH has been going on. . .
The Indies & Oldies Show's Indie Artist Of The Month feature is a huge success - and we are "booked" through July of 2017! If you are an Indie Artist whose music I play on my shows and you'd like to be considered for a Spotlight month, please get in touch with me! You can fill out the comment form here, contact me on Facebook at Toby Chicago, or email me at toby dot chicago at yahoo dot com. We'll be starting 2017 with Sue Leonard in our Indie Spotlight for January!
Famous Seamus had a Guest DJ spot a few weeks back and the response has been tremendous! We now have a larger post office box to handle his fan mail - honest! He also has his own email address which is available upon request. Not publishing the address on social media means less chance of spam appearing in his mailbox.
The owner of our three radio stations, Paula has joined with me in promoting one of our stations, Homelands Radio, into a station that is dedicated to supporting small local nonprofit organizations all over the world! The idea "just happened" when the owner of a small local nonprofit contacted me and asked me to fly cross-country to emcee a Halloween weekend dance for the clients of his nonprofit. That nonprofit, Red Tomato Farm and Inn - located in Pennsylvania - will be the very first nonprofit to have their own show on Homelands Radio! Hopefully it will launch later this month! Do you know of a small non-religious nonprofit that could use some promotional help, or would want to have their own radio show on Homelands? We supply the software and the station; you provide the laptop and the USB mic! (I am working on getting laptops and mics donated but for now we cannot provide them.) It has to be a government-certified nonprofit not affiliated with a religious organization and a small one where they are not getting tons of money from corporations or organizations such as United Way. We believe in helping the smaller nonprofits, so if you know of any, please get in touch with me! (In England, nonprofits are called Registered Charities.)
We are also interested in helping an adorable 8 year old boy named Nate. He lives in Florida and has two Orphan Genetic Diseases. Literally, Nate is the ONLY person in The United States with these genetic diseases; there are just 50 known cases world-wide, mostly in Northern Europe. His goal is to be a YouTube star! Nate lives and homeschools with his single mom and we are hoping to reactivate his GoFundMe page to raise money not only for Nate and his mom to buy a reliable car so they can get to his medical appointments, go grocery shopping, etc., but also to raise awareness with both The Public and Pharmaceutical companies in The USA so research can be done to help this child live a better life. I will be interviewing Nate and his mom on Homelands Radio early in 2017. Please keep checking my Toby Chicago facebook page for updates.
Here's hoping that whatever you celebrate in December - or if you don't celebrate anything, that December will be a good month for everyone, and that 2017 will be a great year for all!
Have a good month,
Toby
